Idols of Asia: On the number nine and Cassandra Ng

On the number nine and Cassandra Ng

My favorite number is nine.

It’s the biggest single-digit number you can get (as soon as you get to 10 things get a lot more complicated).

Cats have nine lives and Pluto is the ninth planet from the sun (although not as funny as Goofy).

And Rembrandt was the ninth child of Harmen Gerritszoon van Rijn and Neeltgen Willemsdochter van Zuytbrouck (how times change – when was the last time you met someone with eight brothers and sisters?!!)

Mathematicians call nine a “lucky number” and a “Motzkin number” (whatever that is)

In Chinese culture, nine is associated with the Emperor of China and he had nine dragons on his robes (not cats)

And another reason to like the number nine? Why, Cassandra Ng of course!
